Ernst (Enda) Ascher was a lifelong friend of Andre Derain and Georges Braque and it was through Enda (Zika’s cousin) that Zika was introduced to Picasso and his circle of Parisian friends and artists. Picasso was asked to design large-scale wall panels alongside Moore and Matisse, but choose not to participate in the initiative. It wasn’t until 1950 that Ascher would print a Picasso design for the Institute of Contemporary Art in London.
