Conceived in 1946 when Françoise Gilot was just 25, this work shows the influence of Picasso’s work (whom she had been with for three years) on her own style. The coloration and composition are particularly lighthearted and beautiful, and it is clear though the layout that much thought was given to the fact that a scarf is viewed from all four sides.
